The homebuilding process can be thought of as a three-legged stool: the builder, the homeowner and the architect.
In the collaborative Design/Build approach, the homeowner hires a builder who can help select an architect, thereby creating a team approach to the homebuilding process. Other times, architects are selected first who, in turn, help select the builder. Either way it’s critical to bring all three disciplines to the table before the work begins.
At Divco Custom Homes, we look to our architects to help imagine, dream, draw and create an overall vision for our custom homes. The homeowner must convey their dreams and desires, determine a budget and make decisions when they are presented with choices while builders, on the other hand, balance a homeowners’ wants and needs with costs, provide “value engineering” and weigh in on a home’s buildability, all of which serve to keep the process moving forward in a positive manner.
Having served the Southwest Florida area for over three decades, Divco Custom Homes has developed strong relationships with many of the best local architects and can help pair their talents and energies with those of our clients. Because we speak the same language, have already pre-qualified our homeowners and ask the hard questions before the design process begins, our Design/Build approach using these talented individuals has proved to be a very successful way to build homes on time and within budget.
